Yannick-Muriel Noah, soprano, a Canadian Opera Company Ensemble Studio graduate, recently made a stellar Austrian debut as La Wally in Klagenfurt. She premiered the title role of Sante in the UK at the Aldeburgh Summer Music Festival and Mona in Swoon at the Canadian Opera Company. With the Canadian Opera Company, she performed Tosca, Donna Anna in Gazzaniga’s Don Giovanni, the Queen of the Night in The Magic Flute school tour and will return as Cio-Cio-San in Madama Butterfly this fall. She also understudied the title role in Luisa Miller, Mimì in La Bohème, Marguerite in Faust, Micaëla in Carmen, Gutrune and the Third Norn in Götterdämmerung. In 2007, Ms. Noah won several top prizes at the prestigious Hans Gabor Belvedere International Singing Competition and at the Marmande International Singing Competition, including the Teatro alla Scala Prize and the Opéra Grand Prix. She was awarded the Theodor Uppman Award by the Sullivan Foundation and won the First Prize at the Brian Law Opera Competition, the 2nd Prize at the 2008 Great Lakes Region Finals of the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions and an award from the George London Foundation. A native of Madagascar, Ms. Noah holds a Bachelor of Architectural Studies with a Minor in Italian from Carleton University.
