Chetan Tierra, seen on concert stages since the age of six, has performed frequently across three continents. Holding top prizes in over twenty-five competitions, he most recently won Second Prize at the Hilton Head International Piano Competition, Third Prize and the Audience Award at the José Iturbi International Music Competition, Second Prize at the New Orleans International Piano Competition, First Prize at the Frinna Awerbuch International Piano Competition, and First Prize at the California International Young Artists Competition. He will be taking part in the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition in May 2009 as one of thirty contestants chosen from a rigorous screening process. Mr. Tierra made his Carnegie Hall debut with high praises in November, 2006 where the NY Concert Review called his performance “magnificent.” He has appeared multiple times with the Louisiana Philharmonic, Santa Cruz Symphony, Hilton Head Symphony, CIM Orchestra, and the TSO Orchestra at the Brevard Music Festival. He has been featured on television and radio including Italy’s “teleblu” TV channel and WCLV and KUSP radio stations in America. Continuing to work closely with his beloved teacher and world class pianist, Antonio Pompa-Baldi, on his Artist Diploma at the Cleveland Institute of Music, Mr. Tierra also gives accolades to his brilliantly gifted former teacher Hans Boepple.
