APPLICATION FOR SINGERS

 

For singers of any nationality, ages 17-35 as of June 1, 2010
First Place winners of previous Iturbi competitions
are not eligible to compete.

 

APPLICATION PROCEDURE
  1. The non-refundable APPLICATION FEE of $100 US may be paid by certified check, money order, Western Union or PayPal. To pay by cashier's check or money order, make the check payable to the Jose Iturbi Foundation and mail it with your supplemental materials. To pay through Western Union, send the money to "Mona Lands, Los Angeles, California, USA" with an email notification of the Money Transfer Control Number (MTCN) sent to mlands@iturbifoundation.com.

  2. Submit by email:
    • Current HEADSHOT or photo (must be between 300 Kb and 2 Mb in size)

    • Current RESUMÉ

    • Current BIO in 200 words or less, written in a formal manner that is edited and ready to be printed in the competition program and website should you be chosen to participate as a contestant in the competition.

  3. Supplemental materials to be mailed or emailed in a timely fashion to be received by May 1, 2010:
    1. DVD made within the last calendar year of of two (2) arias and one (1) art song from the standard repertory.

      Selections submitted may or may not be part of competition repertoire list.
      Mark the DVD with your name and send it with the list of tracks and selections.

    2. A document supporting your Proof of Age such as a copy of your birth certificate, passport or driver’s license.

    3. Two letters of recommendation

    4. A letter from a recent or current teacher written to specifically recommend the applicant to the Fourth José Iturbi International Music Competition.
      A letter from a musician or musicians of acknowledged professional standing.
      These letters must be sealed and signed across the back flap of the envelope. A letter of recommendation sent by email directly from the recommender will also be acceptable. This can be emailed to mlands@iturbifoundation.com

    5. Copies of two full recital programs performed within the last 3 years.

    6. A personal statement about what you hope to achieve by entering the competition (between 100 and 150 words).  It must be written in English or an English translation must be provided.

    7. Cashier's check or money order for the Application Fee, if not paid through Western Union or PayPal.

  4. Complete Online APPLICATION FORM below and submit electronically by midnight of May 1, 2010.

  5. Print a copy of your completed online application for your records. Please retain copies of all materials sent with your application.  The José Iturbi Foundation will not accept responsibility for lost documents.

  6. Any Application and/or Supplemental Materials not received by the due date of May 1, 2010, will not be considered.

  7. All 24 accepted candidates will be notified by May 5, 2010.
